Worship
with us
in the
season of Easter
May 20, 2012
The
gospel for Easter's seventh Sunday is always taken from the long prayer
Jesus prays for his followers in John's gospel on the night before his
death, and always includes Jesus' desire that his followers will be one
as he and the Father are one. This oneness is not mere doctrinal
agreement or institutional unity, but mutual abiding, interpenetrating
life, mutual love and joy. This oneness is the work of the Spirit whom
we have received but also await. Come, Holy Spirit!

WELCA
Bible Study,
Tuesday, May 15th at 9:30 AM
All
women are cordially invited to the WELCA (Women of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America) Bible study for 2011-2012 “To Follow and
to Serve: The Gospel of Mark”. This study challenges us
with an invitation to discipleship in the 21st century; emphasizing what
it means to follow Jesus Christ today. In it we are called to a
living faith, a deeper and more courageous understanding of what it
means to follow Jesus whom we first meet in Mark’s Gospel at his
baptism in the River Jordan.
We meet the third Tuesday of the month through May at 9:30 AM.
Meeting duration is usually about 1˝ to 2 hours, including the Bible
study, time for discussion, fellowship and refreshments.
May
theme verse: Mark 16:6 – “Do not be alarmed; you are
looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been
raised, he is not here.”
This
month’s study: Our journey through Mark’s Gospel concludes
with this session. It includes the account of the women at the
empty tomb and the poignant, puzzling moment of revelation about the
resurrection. It ends where we began; back with the question of
what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ in the 21st century.
