Altar
and Chancel Care
Unless you happen to
drop by the church on a Saturday morning
you might be unaware of all the effort
altar care members put forth
in getting the altar area ready for the next
service. Dick Faser
happened by one
Saturday with his camera and took photographs
to document the work of Lou
Stassen as she prepared the altar
for a Sunday service.
1. the altar area is cleaned by hand and cloth
2. the lectern bible is marked for the lesson readers
3. the candles are cleaned and filled with oil
4. the communion rail is wiped free of all dust and fingerprints
5. the carpet is cleaned by vacuum
6. the microphones are cleaned
7. wine is poured into the small communion cups
8. grape juice is poured into center cups for
non-alcoholic wine
9. a clean white linen is laid down on the altar for the wine and bread
10. white gloves are used to protect the brass items from tarnish

We will go
to worship next Sunday with a new appreciation for the Altar Care's work.
And
maybe even a little more respect for what is holy!
For this we want to acknowledge
the people who quietly work behind the
scenes to help prepare our sanctuary to be a
"Holy Place " for us to
worship.
