The Ragazzi Boys Chorus of San Francisco performed Monteverdi’s “Laetatus Sum” at the 10:00 AM worship service on Sunday, March 29 at Ascension Lutheran Church.  The combination of the talent of these fine singers and the acoustics of the building made for a spectacular performance of this piece, which was appropriate for the Lenten season.  It was especially effective having the choirs divided and performing from the front chancel as well as the corners of the balconies with ancillary singers.

Artistic Director Joyce Keil founded Ragazzi in 1987.  She has served as panelist, adjudicator, and guest conductor for music teachers and choirs throughout the western United States. Mrs. Keil currently serves as the California State Chair for the American Choral Directors Association and is the daughter of Ascension’s former pastor Paul Baumgartner.  We were so pleased to be able to host an event with connections to the pastor who served at the time Ascension built its current facility in 1963.  This was a homecoming for Joyce Keil, and an opportunity for us to extend our hospitality to her as well as her mother and brother, who were also in attendance.
